The question nobody seems to be asking about Whoregate.

Why were the Feds even looking at Eliot Spitzer when he was in Washington DC? Is it common practice for the Feds to spy on Governors? Why is nobody asking this question? The salacious nature of this “crime” seems like it has dominated all of the press coverage, while this key element of the story is being ignored.

UPDATE: I’m watching the Newshour with Jim Lehrer and homie is basically saying that “suspicious bank” activity triggered the feds looking at Spitzer. Ummmm… yeah. That sounds about as a convenient excuse to take down a dude that has obviously not made a lot of friends in his professional career as I’ve ever heard. Just about 1/2 the bank transactions I ever do could be classified as “suspicious”. Love this country.
