Steven King’s “Maximum Overdrive”: Is this flick dying for a remake or what? The original is deliciously bad and had a sense of humor about itself that seems like it’s kind of lost in modern cineplexes. Grindhouse didn’t do too well so it would probably be completely wrong to assume a remake like this one would be a commercial success. I guess modern audiences need their cheesiness to be a comic book movie or flat out Zucker-like silliness. Remakes also tend to fully blow it. Screw it. We’ll just stick with the force known as Emilio Estevez (in his absolute heyday) and a Goblin truck pitted against each other to the rocking sounds of AC/DC.
