Generation Kill: “Get Some”

UPDATE: My brother who was IN the Iraq war (82nd Airborne) says they got this SPOT ON. I still haven’t seen it, but I’m gonna have to go with my brother over my bro over this one until I can decide who is right.

Bummer. I had high hopes for this one.

The first one-hour installment of Generation Kill on HBO last night was beyond underwhelming. How the fuck did they blow this so badly? It’s way too British in its cadence (think This Life or even The Bill for fuck sake); the lines are awkwardly crisp, pre-meditated and unbelievable-sounding. I think the first three installments (directed by Susanna White) are going to blow and the the series will find its stride come the 4th (when director Simon Cellan Jones [now understandably] stepped in).

HBO hyped the shit out of GK but its 1st hour can’t even hold Band of Brothers’s jockstrap. Huge let-down as far as I’m concerned. The sets are top-notch though.
